Musical Moments in Kings Park 2013 "Musical Moments in Kings Park 2013" will liven up the scene in downtown Kings Park on Friday evenings from June 21 through August 30. This third season of free, live concerts, planned by the Kings Park Music Committee, will be from 7:30 - 9:00 PM in Russ Savatt Park. Support from the Kings Park Civic Association, the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce, the local business community and a grant from the Huntington Arts Council makes "Musical Moments" possible. The concerts, which feature Long Island musicians, have made a big hit. Residents enjoy hearing music and mingling with friends and neighbors in Russ Savatt Park, right next to Ralph's Italian Ices. The concerts boost downtown activity and give local musicians a chance to perform. We hope that you will help support our 2013 season. All supporters are acknowledged on our publicity and at our concerts. Sponsors at the $100 level or higher may sponsor a specific concert. Sponsors of a specific night are encouraged to promote their business at the concert. Some ways to promote your business are distribution of discount coupons, display of menus or services, samples of food items, and giveaways (such as tee shirts and keychains.) "Musical Moments" will be pleased to assist in your business promotion. See reverse side for concert details. Please lend your support to this fun-filled Kings Park event as either a sponsor or contributor. You will be helping make Kings Park an even better place to live. Thank you. In Recognition of Your Many Years of
He has long been a member of the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce and is one of the Chamber's biggest supporters. The arrival of Santa at the Tree Lighting and the lighting of the Menorah candles just wouldn't be the same without the hot chocolate and cookies that Mike serves up every year! Suffice it to say that most all of the community groups in our town have benefitted from Mike's generosity over the years there is hardly a fund raiser anywhere in town that Mike has not contributed to. School groups, especially, have many times been helped by Mike, who loves kids. The Kings Park Heritage Museum, Angels Without Faces, the Kings Park Education Foundation, local food pantries all have been helped time and time again by Mike. Rob really was "outstanding" in his response to many of those who were ravaged by Superstorm Sandy. Working with his employees, he arranged donations of clothing, food, supplies and other necessities to those in need. He shared office space facilities with other businesses that were without power. He even made trips to Connecticut with his company vehicles to fill gasoline containers and return to our area for distribution of the critically needed fuel. But it's not just the formal groups that Mike reaches out to. He hears about people in crisis and he quietly helps out. He has a commitment to his community that knows no bounds. He seeks no public recognition, in fact, he shies away from publicity. He professes a strong belief in God, family and helping his community. The biggest issue for him, as he puts it, is "finding more time." We are grateful that Mike finds the enormous amount of time that he does now to serve his community. He personifies what a successful, community-minded business owner is all about! For that, we thank him and we honor him as the 2012 PERSON OF THE YEAR!

A family that knew what it meant to work together often for long hours seven days a week collecting eggs, caring for the animals and most importantly forming lifelong relationships with the customers they served. The examples of faith and charity they grew up with has enabled them to be truly grateful for the life they have been given. A family owned farm in the middle of one of Long Island's busiest communities has proven to be a tremendous blessing despite the hard work that goes along with it. Over the years these people in the Kings Park community have become more like close friends and family living and supporting one another in any way they could.
Maura graduated from Kings Park High School in 1980. She attended Stony Brook University where she studied economics before transferring to Hofstra University majoring in business and computer science. She then attended Control Data Institute where she graduated with a degree in computer programming in 1984. Maura was employed at Harris G.S.S.D Corporation as an Associate Engineer for 7 years before starting her family in 1991. At this time she returned to the family business where both she and her sister continued their parent's legacy. Maura married James Ruggiero who is also a lifetime resident of Kings Park in 1986 and they have three children Brittany, James and Michael. Cathy and Maura are very involved in helping out the community and are always ready and willing to reach out to those in need. They offer their time and themselves to so many local causes and always with a smile. Both Maura and Cathy have been active members of the Kings Park Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over twenty years. Maura's husband Jim has served as Chief and Commissioner for the department as well. Catherine and her husband Al are both founding members of the Kings Park St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and work tirelessly to ensure the success of the parade. Maura is very active in Saint Joseph's Parish as a Catholic Daughter, Eucharistic Minister, Pre Cana Mentor, and Religious Education teacher. In all of their experiences they are often reminded of how truly rewarding it feels to give back to their hometown of Kings Park. It truly is a very special place that they are proud to call home.

In Recognition of Your Outstanding Commitment
Rob's passion for his work and his continuous striving to be "outstanding" transfers also to his commitment to his community and a passion for helping others in need. He is a member of the Chambers of Commerce in Smithtown, Huntington, Northport and St. James as well as Kings Park. He is a member of the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus and the Kings Park Civic Association. These community and business memberships help Rob to grow his business. It is also through these memberships that he is able to keep abreast of community matters and he takes keen interest especially when he hears of someone or some family in crisis. He is a big contributor to the Make A Wish Foundation. He helps many organizations by taking part in their food drives throughout the year. He even offers discounts to customers who make charitable donations to various community groups. Rob Cartelli of Outstanding Plumbing is truly an "outstanding" member of the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce and we thank him for his service to our community and honor him as the 2012 HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR

In Recognition of Your Leadership
Kings Park has benefitted tremendously over the past few years by the commitment that Sean has to helping to make our community a better place in which to live, play and work. One need not look very far to see the results of several projects that Sean helped bring to fruition. In the past two years alone, he has been one of the key figures in the success of the Kings Park Farmers Market and the series of Friday night musical concerts on Main Street, both of which have already become events that people from all over eagerly attend. He continues to work towards improving our "Bike and Hike" trail. A board member of the Nissequogue River State Park, he has worked tirelessly with government officials at all levels to secure a master plan for the property and sufficient funding to insure its proper development. As President of the Kings Park Civic Association, Sean has been able to work cooperatively with most all other community groups social, civic and business. These include the school district, the Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus, Kings Park In the Know as well as any informal groups that might form in response to concerns that might threaten their way of life. Sean is a success at working together with people rather than working against people. He recognizes that there can be many sides to controversial issues and is willing to meet with and discuss the issues in a professional and collaborative manner. For his commitment to Kings Park; his desire to make our community a better place for all of us; his ability to work with others; the enormous amount of time that he spends in trying to achieve those goals we thank Sean and we honor him with our 2012 COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

In Recognition of Your Commitment to and
His community service is an integral part of Dan's life. He was active in the Kings Park Fire Department for 20 years from 1975-1995. He is now a "Life Member" of the Department. Soon after he joined the volunteers, he saw a need for more EMT's on the ambulance squad and trained for hundreds of hours eventually becoming an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. He then led the squad as Ambulance Supervisor, later becoming a Trustee and Ambulance Committeeman and a certified Red Cross CPR instructor. His legacy is the hundreds of citizens trained by him to serve their communities. The VFW and the Suffolk Legislature have honored Dan as "Fireman of the Year" and "Lifesaver of the Year,' respectively. Dan is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Sons of Italy, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and is currently the Commander of the Donald C. Munro Post of the American Legion. He is a familiar figure at all Veterans Day and Memorial Day celebrations throughout the town. He is a passionate advocate on behalf of all our veterans. For his continued service to our community, we thank Dan and honor him with our 2012 COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
